Role Description

The Befriending Department at Age UK Bury are looking for volunteers who would like to become a face to face befriender volunteer. This role is for people who love to sit and chat with a person who is housebound. The volunteer usually visits once a week with each visit being a minimum of one hour. Volunteers and Clients are matched (where possible) by location and interests. The difference a weekly visit can make is huge in tackling the problem of social isolation.

Suitability: Suitable for 18 year olds and over

Time commitment

volunteer dependent, the minimum amount is one hour a week but as relationships develop it becomes common for the visits to last a couple of hours

Availability: Monday Morning, Monday Afternoon, Tuesday Morning, Tuesday Afternoon, Wednesday Morning, Wednesday Afternoon, Thursday Morning, Thursday Afternoon, Friday Morning, Friday Afternoon

Role Location: The Befriending team covers the whole of the Borough of Bury, volunteers and clients are matched where possible by location.
