Role Description

About the Role:
As a Community Volunteer, you will play a flexible and rewarding role supporting both Bury VCFA and other local charities. This role is designed to give you the freedom to choose the opportunities that suit your time, interests, and skills. You may be involved in one-off events, volunteer fairs, or community advocacy — helping to raise awareness of volunteering and supporting activities that make a positive difference across Bury.

Purpose of the Role:
The primary purpose of this role is to provide additional hands-on support at events and activities, while also being an advocate for volunteering in the community. By taking part, you will help promote the value of volunteering, strengthen local organisations, and encourage others to get involved.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
As a Community Volunteer, you may choose to be involved in some of the following activities:

1. Supporting local charities at one-off events (e.g., fun days, fundraisers, awareness campaigns).
2.Helping with recruitment events run by charities to encourage new volunteers.
3. Assisting Bury VCFA at volunteer fairs to showcase opportunities in the borough.
4. Representing & Supporting Bury VCFA at external events.
5. Supporting one-off large community events across Bury.
6. Acting as an advocate for volunteering by sharing your experiences in schools, colleges, or community groups.

Please note: you are not expected to do all of the above — you can pick and choose the opportunities that best suit you.

Type of Activity: One off event, Ad-hoc, Ongoing, Suitable for individuals to apply, In person volunteering

Suitability: Suitable for 16 and 17 year olds, Suitable for 18 year olds and over
