Role Description

Do you have a passion for technology and a heart for helping others? If you want to make a tangible difference in your local community by empowering residents with essential digital skills—and you’ve got a good grasp of IT (qualifications or experience welcome but not essential)—this could be the perfect role for you.

As a Digital Buddy, you’ll work alongside fellow volunteers to lead or assist group sessions (typically 4–15 participants) tailored to individuals from marginalized backgrounds. These may include:

Older adults who feel left behind by fast-paced tech

Refugees and asylum seekers navigating new systems

Community members without prior digital education or experience

Our sessions range from structured lesson plans to casual drop-ins designed to tackle specific digital challenges. Topics we cover include:

📝 Writing CVs

⌨️ Typing skills

📱 Messaging and phone calls

🌍 Using translation apps

💸 Online banking

🛂 Navigating e-visas

💼 Job searching

📂 Digital file organisation

📧 Writing emails

📣 Social media skills
