Driver
If you love being behind the wheel and want to use your driving skills to help a charity, then you can join Guide Dogs today! As a volunteer driver, you will be helping us make a difference to people with sight loss, through supporting us with any transport requirements.

What you’ll be doing
- Using your driving skills to safely transport our dogs and equipment to their agreed destination. This could be to a fundraising event, or to a specialist vet appointment.
- Following guidelines on how to appropriately handle and transport young puppies or adult dogs.
- Providing all round safe transportation for everybody.

Type of Activity: Ad-hoc, Ongoing, Suitable for individuals to apply, In person volunteering

Suitability: Suitable for 18 year olds and over

Time commitment

The time commitment is varied, no week is the same, but driving tasks usually take place between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Is this role available at multiple locations? Yes
Role Location: There is no set location for a Volunteer Driver, they may be required to drive locally or further afield, individual volunteer's preference will be discussed at interview. Usually the drive involves taking a dog to our Regional Centre in Atherton (M46 0SU) or collecting/dropping off equipment to the same address.

Volunteers are asked to complete or provide: Application form, ID Check, Reference(s), Informal discussion (may include an interview)
Activities: Driving (must have full licence)
Skills: UK Driving Licence, You’ll ideally have:
- Confident and conscientious driving skills.
- Willingness to drive a variety of distances, some may be out of your local area.
